A garden ceremony at The Manor in King City, just as the afternoon light turned gold. An outdoor wedding lives and dies by the weather, and this one was kind to us, clear and still, with the kind of soft light that makes the whole job easier.
The Manor sits on a stretch of green well north of the city, far enough out that the noise of the GTA disappears completely.
In the garden
I shot the ceremony almost entirely in the open shade of the trees, which gave me soft, even light without the harsh midday contrast you fight at most outdoor weddings. Then, once the guests had moved off for cocktails, I chased the last of the sun across the lawn for the couple's portraits. Some days the location does half the work for you.
